ROTARIANS AT WORK 2011

April 30, 2011

For the second year Pollock Pines-Camino Rotary will join with the Salvation Army and the Rotary Club's of Cameron Park and Georgetown to offer "Christmas in April". The bells will ring at Safeway in Pollock Pines and other venues in Placerville, Georgetown, and Cameron Park to solicit donations that ultimately provide back to school clothing and supplies for our local children. The back to school portion occurs in August as needy kids are assisted in a shopping trip to Wal-Mart.

Rotarians at Work April 25, 2009

The first annual Rotarians at Work Day followed the visions of many members. We removed

obsolete signs, cleaned up  Morgan Park that borders the Kragen parking lot and Pony Express Trail. We repaired the snow plow damaged entrances to Safeway, and worked for 6 stright hours cleaning the trash and weeds from the culvert at the corner of  Sanders and Pony Express Trail. The culvert project was helped by the volunteers from U-Turn for Christ.

Other members joined with Snowline Hospice Arbor Day in Camino. They helped with distributing fledging trees, making bird feeders with children and helping with donations.

The day ended with naps for some, zaccuzi treatments for others and "after glow" at Jeanne and Ken's. We all came away feeling a sence of accomplishment that continues each time we drive by  the areas that we rehabilitated.

Many thanks to Cherri Jaggers and her family. Her three grandchildren pitched in and helped for hours in return for ice cream treats! Ray brought weed whackers and other much needed and labor saving equipment as well.

Many thanks also to the women from U-Turn for Christ who cheerfully pitched in to help at the culvert location.

In all,  12 Active Rotarians and 1 Honorary Rotarian participated in the Rotarians at Work Day.
